HannsG Prone to Bad PixelsStrengths: The monitor is HUGE. Games on it are really fun. I found myself playing old games because they were so much better on it. Weakness: Bad Pixels Common. Inputs aren't that great, it needs more inputs. Controls are on the side and hard to reach. Monitor is way too bright, it is blindly bright. A lot of reviewers say the same thing. I’ve read about 100+ user reviews on this monitor and agree with what other people had to say. The monitor ships way too bright. You have to immediately turn it down. I still find it too bright, even on the low settings. 100% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

PLEASE BE CAREFUL!!Strengths: bright, large, cheap Weakness: terrible warranty and use 3rd party companies to deal with warranties DO NOT BUY!! Hanns-G have one of the worst pixel warranty deals...10 dead pixels before they will fix it. Have you ever seen a screen with 10 dead pixels?? It ain't pretty. They advertise they have one of the best in the industry but c'mon most others are 3 or even zero nowadays, 10 is 5 years ago. Yes it is pretty and yes the price is excellent but lets be honest its that for a reason..getting that warm feeling from a bargain is wonderful but we all know how it feels when it goes wrong. My screen has a big bright red dot and it is .......really annoying. 100% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Excellent MonitorStrengths: cost, no dead pixels, hdmi, tilt stand, color, power Weakness: gamma, brightness, speakers, input I just bought this monitor and I love it. This monitor preceded my expectations of a large monitor. It was bigger than I had hoped. When I first plugged in, I was scared of any dead pixels but I had received none. I got mine from ComputerHQ and it was delivered very quickly :) My only real complaint is that the speakers are horrible. I understand it is a monitor so having bad speakers is not uncommon, but why not just not have them at all and save us an extra $10. The speakers are dead weight. Hanns-G should have used better speakers or none at all. The stand is very sturdy and the adjustability is amazing. The stickers are annoying but easily removable with some Goo Gone. There is noticeable lightray from the edge of the monitor but it's not a big deal. And there is also a slight bluish-tint because it's a TN LCD. For the price, buy this monitor, when you have the full display going, it is just sick. I have it hooked up to my PC on the vga and my 360 on the hdmi and both are very impressive. I didn't see any noticeable fade from using the d-sub. A 28" lcd monitor at 1920x1200 with hdmi that doubles as a TV? Don't pass this up. 100% of readers found this review helpful. Good till it diedStrengths: Price, size Weakness: OSD, failed Bought this monitor in early March, before the end of the month it died. I woke up one morning and found that the monitor was completely white, no picture showed up. I tried all the normal things but to no avail, unfortunately the store I bought it at no longer carried it so I had to get a smaller monitor. I thought the price was too good to be true, and in my case it was. 100% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Not for videoheadsStrengths: Affordable, large monitor. Weakness: Terrible black levels and no black level adjustment. Twisted Nematic display means colors shift and blacks shine like chrome; complicated and annoying pushbutton control menus I bought this because I was hoping to find a 1920x1200 res monitor that I could use on my desktop in my bedroom - something I would work at then chill at bedtime with a movie. While this monitor is great for most desktop work, it is NOT a monitor you want for watching tv or movies. With color levels above about 16,16,16 (ie "almost completely black" it works very well and you will never notice its weaknesses; once the lights dim onscreen the glare becomes just too much. Unfortunately, you cannot simply adjust this out even with the computer's gamma controls because one then runs into the problem of TN's limited color gamut which only compounds the already poor black level resolution of digitally compressed video. 100% of readers found this review helpful. LOVE IT, BUY THIS!Strengths: compared to my previous 19" CRT this is mind-blowing. no dead pixels! very bright and high contrast. 3 year warranty! i think it's the cheapest 28" out there. Weakness: no controls on the front, no game system ports on front, no usb ports in front. i wish it went higher than 1900x1200 but i don't think that exists yet..?? i'm an LCD n00b, this being my first LCD monitor but i am blown away and totally in love with this monitor!! i would definitely recommend it to a prospective buyer. i have ZERO dead or bright pixels, it worked instantly with Windows Vista and my video card. my buddy had a problem with this on his mac mini though, but seriously why would you buy a mac mini? buy this monitor. 100% of readers found this review helpful. Best monitor for the money. Period.Strengths: Bright, clear, sharp, tiltable, adjustable height, good viewing angle, fast response, PRICE, resolution, 0 dead pixels Weakness: None that I have found so far all though I do wish the monitor controls were on the front instead of the side. Also, some buttons for setting different presets would be nice. I purchased this monitor a couple of weeks ago and I am completely happy with it (and I consider myself a VERY picky and very well informed buyer). I use it mainly for gaming. I have been wary of LCD screens in the past when it comes to gaming but this monitor has fulfilled everything I could hope for in a gaming monitor. It has a high resolution, super fast response time, very bright picture (too bright for me to even use 100% brightness.. I usually use 40-50% in game and 0-10% for desktop apps), very sharp display (ONLY WHEN DIGITAL (DVI or HDMI) CONNECTIONS ARE USED!!! If you hook this monitor up via a VGA cable your picture WILL be blurred). 82% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Really crisp display.DVI-HDMI Inputs Looks better and more sturdy than my Gateway Weakness: side mounted buttons a bit dodgy. Needed adjusting from factory settings This monitor is a gamers dream! I run 512mb Radeon Graphics and online I am the King-Kong King Of The Rim-Ram Room! Just buy it. You will not be disappointed. 50% of readers found this review helpful. Awesome Monitor, Great PriceStrengths: Price! Clear Size, Good Quality Weakness: Low Resolution This is a very solid monitor and unbelievable for the price I paid ($500). The only gripe I would have with it is that it only has a 1920 x 1200 resolution (the same as a 24"). Other than that, the colors are great, the text is clear, and no dead pixels. Why get a $1500 apple 30 inch when you can get 3 of these! 33% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

HG281DPB Black 28" Widescreen LCD MonitorStrengths: Clear picture, sleek design, great value for size Weakness: Built-in speakers are not great quality Great picture, great value for size in product comparisons. If not interested in audio performance, this is an ideal monitor for home use. Works great with wireless networking. Extra ports for HD plug ins. Screen may be a bit pixelated when using multiple wireless components through wireless router but arguably this is interference and not a fault of the monitor. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? ImpressiveStrengths: High Res HD, Size, Vivid Color, Price, No Dead pixels Weakness: Cannot adjust height, only 1 HDMI input, no DVI I was not sure if I was going to like this one, I was a little unsure of the size, however it is great. 28" is fine as long as your are not sitting 5" away. Almost PerfectStrengths: Price. Good image quality. Fast response time. Weakness: Ugly frame around screen. Need screw driver to remove stand. This monitor can be used at 1280 x 786 with not so good resolution or 1440 x 900 with good resolution, or 1680 x 1050 for accurate and excellant resolution, and 1920 x 1200 for the clearest resolution, but at this resolution, the fonts are very small. Colors are rich and power consumption is the lowest for a monitor of this size. For this price, a decent product and I would recommend buying it. If only they would have a slim, sleek frame around the screen, instead of the ugly thick one. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

WowStrengths: Bright, clear picture, great picture quality, easy set-up Weakness: speaker quality Wow. What a great monitor for the price. I could not be much happier. Sure, the speakers do not compare to the Bose speakers I was using, but for my needs, that is a small concern. This is a terrific Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Awesome monitor!!!
Strengths: HUGE! Sharp. Beautiful colors. Great contrast. Includes all the cables you need.
Weakness: HDMI converter appears to mess up the sync when waking up from a sleep state. See below for my solution.
WOW!!! Once I got the monitor hooked up via it's HDMI connection I was REALLY impressed. The box DOES contain a DVI to HDMI adapter. Very nice of the manufacture to include the cable. In fact, it includes a bunch of different wires. I had bought an extended warranty, so I was glad to learn after the purchase that it had a 3 year warranty already.
The quality via the VGA cable was good but the HDMI is perfect. Pictures and the ability to see so many pictures at one time has been just awesome. I even got the monitor fairly well matched to my other fairly well color calibrated monitor. Text via the VGA connection, like emails, IMs, and even program menus, like in Photoshop were not very sharp...and had some ghosting. But when I finished connecting it via the DVI out on my computer to the HDMI in, it just became this most beautiful image.
I would not hesitate one bit on getting a monitor like this. I can't believe that is is 1/3 of the price of the Apple 30", which BTW, I did work with recently just to make sure I wasn't missing out on something by not spending more money. This monitor, connected via DVI is just as nice as the Apple monitor. Text is crisp. Photos are beautiful, bright, contrasty. Corner to corner brightness is even. Visibility at 175 degrees is exceptional.
The ONLY challenge I have had is that the monitor will not re-sync if the computer gos to sleep. Instead, I have to make the computer go to hibernate. Before I came up with this easier solution, I was having to keep my 17" monitor as #1...and going to display properties, turning off the "extend desktop" and then turning it back on to make my display card recognize that the monitor is attached. I have not been able to determine if it is my display card...or the monitor that has the challenge. But the solution works...so I haven't messed with trying to contact the company. Unfortunately, my first attempt to contact the company about this issue has not been answered.
