Unbelieveably Smooth welder

Strengths: Wonderful cast aluminum, double wheel drive deck, Smooth power - makes for less spatter, easy to tune to the work at hand, better than my old Hobart 180, for much less $$$$.

Weakness: Have not found any yet...

I have a small company that does metal work. I typically weld parts in the 18 gauge to 1/4" range. The chart inside the machine is a good baseline for beginners, but I normally run the machine one level hotter and faster.

There is one part I weld that requires 6 - 2" long welds per part on 1/8" steel angle. That's a foot of weld per part. I max out the heat on the part and weld 50 to 75 parts in a sitting (about 1 to 1.5 hours). The welder doesn't bat an eye. My old Hobart 180 did not perform as well as this machine, so I gave it to a friend, since he doesn't use a welder as much as me.

I am sold - I am even thinking about getting the 140 amp / 120 Volt version to use when I have to go to work at a cutomers location.

alot of power for a little welder

Strengths: portable, smooth operating

Weakness: none yet

I do not have the this 180 model, but i do have the 140 model and I have been very happy with it. i am a industrial structural welder for a living so i am used to running some pretty hot welds, wasnt to sure about the pro 140 when i bought it, but i plugged it in and was amazed what this thing will do. i have put this thing to the test and have never tripped the overload on it. Welded on 3/16 plate making six inch welds for three hours straight and this thing just kept on ticking. I have a portable welder set up and this thing works great for quick repairs, i just plug it into my generator on the truck and im ready to go. Would recomend the maxus pro series welders to anybody that does home repair and hobby welding. As far as parts go it uses typical TWECO welder consumables that can be found at most farm/welding stores. the only down fall i found with the 120 volt welder is that it will trip 15 amp breakers after a couple inches of weld, have never tripped a 20 breaker. i attaached some picts of projects welded with my welder.
