Cuisinart DCC-2000 Coffee Maker

Strengths: Keeps coffee piping hot.

Weakness: if it was taller for travel mugs.

My husband and I love this coffee maker, it is exatly what we have been looking for. My husband leaves for work at 5:30 am and I get up with the kids at 7:00, I found that even with a carafe the coffee was not hot enough for me. This makes the coffee piping hot and it stays hot until it shuts off. I noticed a better flavor in the coffee as well. Easy to clean looks great, easy to operate. I give it 5 stars! We have tried 3 coffee makers in 6 months, this is the winner!

I was happy with this coffee maker for about 3 months. I was tired of spending thirty or forty dollars for the typical coffee maker so I decided to purchase this machine based of mfg. reputation and I liked the idea of not having a carafe. I'v now owned it for about 18 months. I replaced it yesterday with another brand and an insulated stainless carafe.
What can I say about the DCC-2000. Simple, DON'T BUY IT!!!!

* It leaks! Several times it leaked all over the cabinet even running down on the floor.
* It turns off when it isn't supposed to. It just goes blank clock, lights everything.
* You really have to work to keep the inside clean.

I can't believe Cuisinart is still selling this machine. I have read other reviews with these same problems. They know it doesn't work as advertised. I am very disappointed with this company.

I must be doing something wrong. I have had my DCC-2000 since December and have not had a piping hot cup of coffee yet. I love the taste just want it hot, not warm. Can't find a customer service number to call that does not cost me money to get help. I have used the MIN button and the 1-4 cup extra hot button and not, did not make any difference.Any help out there

Third one in less than two years

Strengths: Keeps coffee hot without burning it. All the nice features: Timer, coffee level gauge, small quantity cycle. Three year warranty.

Weakness: Doesn't last.

Two of my friends had these machines and spoke highly of them, so I bought one. After less than a year of one brew cycle a day, it quit working in the middle of brewing. Talking to my friends later, I discovered that both of theirs had failed as well. Cuisinart's customer service was responsive however and they sent me a new one and asked for the broken one to be returned in the same box. The new one lasted about seven months then failed in the same manner. At this rate, it's going to cost Cuisinart four or five machines to cover the three year warranty! I love using it when it works. In my experience, it seems like a great idea that is poorly executed.

Cuisinart DCC-2000 Coffee Maker

Strengths: Coffee stays quite hot for a long time. No carafe to deal with.

Weakness: Machine is a bit tippy unless it's in use, or it could just be compulsivity for perfection speaking.

I've been in the market for a coffee maker for some time now and finally decided upon this Cuisinart. A friend of mine has this coffee maker and I had to have it after trying hers out. No carafe to wash or break. Very user-friendly in every way. Coffee stays very hot. I like the auto on and off options. Clean up is very easy. I highly recommend this coffee maker for anybody.

Cuisinart DCC-2000 Series Coffee Maker

Strengths: Looks nice on the counter, coffee stays hot (not burned)for two+ hours. No caraffe to break!

Weakness: Condensation on the underside of the lid

I have had my Cuisinart DCC-2000 coffee maker for a little over a year now and I love it! It really looks nice on my counter with the stainless steel modern design. It keeps the coffee hot (not burned) for over two hours. It turns off after two hours but I find that the coffee stays hot for at least another hour. I like the design as I can set my cup under the dispenser - no spills. I also like to program the unit so that my coffee is ready and waiting for me when I wake up in the morning.

If I were to have a complaint it would be the water condensation under the lid. When you open the unit it runs down behind the unit. However, I think this is probably unavoidable and not necessarily a flaw with this product. I find that opening the lid an inch and inserting a section of paper towel to absorb the condensation takes care of this problem.

You do need to make sure to clean the unit by running 1/3 part white vinegar with 2/3 parts water in the unit from time to time. My unit stopped working about a week ago. The light would come on as if it were going to brew but it would not make the coffee!! I rinsed out the reservoir a few times and got some debris. It was a combination of coffee grounds and calcium deposits. We have soft water but you can still get these deposits. I ran the vinegar/water thru the unit and then ran water thru it. It now works just fine. Cleaning the unit on a regular basis is something I will not neglect to do from now on.

I highly recommend this product and would certainly purchase it again!

CAG46

Strengths: Good coffee when it works!

Weakness: Didn't last more than a year.

Sometimes it would leak when you poured the water in.
Wouldn't spend $100.00 on a coffee maker that won't last more than a year. I guess I will be stuck with buying the cheap brands from now on.

I love this coffee maker!

Strengths: Coffee stays hot and no glass carafes to worry about.

Weakness: None yet.

This is a great coffee maker. You fill it up, set the timer and your set to go the next day. The coffee stays very hot and there is no mess. It is great not having to deal with a carafe anymore!!

Great Coffee Maker

Strengths: Keeps coffee warmer than a thermal carafe

Weakness: Takes a little longer to brew

Prior to buying this coffee maker, my husband used to brew a pot of coffee and then pour it into a thermal carafe to keep it warm with burning it. While researching thermal coffee makers, the main complaint would be that the coffee wasn't warm enough. When I saw the Cuisinart DCC-2000, I decided to try it, and we like it a lot! My second cup of coffee (which can be about 30-40 minutes after the first cup), is as hot and fresh as the first cup, with no extra dishes to wash!

Good coffee system

Strengths: Coffee is kept HOT! No carafe to deal with. NO spilling coffee when pouring. Holds 12 cups, not the usual 10.

Weakness: Easily overfilled until you get used to it.

I did some research before deciding on this coffee system. It has an adjustable shut off timer, so you can allow the coffee to stay HOT longer, or shut off sooner than the normal 2 hours. The coffee is HOT when it comes out of the resovoir. The ratings from internet sites are 4 to 4 1/2 stars, and I agree with this. It is easily cleaned, and makes a very good cup of coffee. Used either the gold mesh filter, or the usual paper basket filters, not the more expensive #4 filters. It notifies you with a "beep" when the coffee is finished brewing, as well as when it cuts off the warming plate. This is a good purchase.

Faulty product

Strengths: Nice when it works

Weakness: It only works sometimes.....and you can't get to examine the wiring

The first one we bought had the same problem...we exchanged it for a new one, and the same problem happened to this one. One day both just wouldn't turn on....the second one started to work again as we were getting ready to return it....but that only lasted a few days.

Cuisinart DCC 2000

Strengths: Looks nice. Coffee hot and tasty. Controls easy to use. Has a timer. Has a 1 to 4 cup setting. No drip.

Weakness: None really. You do have to be careful with the adding the water and you do have to pull out to open top.

Only have had this for two days, but really like it so far. It looks very nice on the counter. I have not had a single drip after filling a cup, although there is a drip tray. The coffee is hot and tasty. The coffee tank comes out easily to be rised or cleaned. It comes with a gold fine-wire basket but standard paper baskets can also be used. I had no problem setting it up and using the first time. I went and made some coffee while writing this review.

Cuisinart DCC-2000 coffeemaker

Strengths: Like not having to use a coffeepot.

Weakness: none

My sister has one and I really liked it. Great product- would recommend. Some of the products out there are not worth the money but this one is and it's great to also get a rebate on it.

Expensive, SLOW, and defective design

Strengths: It looks cool

Weakness: Extremely slow, poor design leads to spills, Costly (though thankfully not to me), terrible documentation.

I am a coffee lover. Not a conneseur, but heavy coffee drinker (2-3 twelve cup pots in summer, 3-5 in winter). the coffee is on 24/7 in my house. (well... not quite. I work 12-14 hr days...) Suffice it to say that I've run through my share of coffee pots.

this was a christmas gift, and one that I was going to hold on to until my current pot died. a call from the giver (mother-in-law) to the wife prompted me to try it.

First impression was that it was complicated. The manual was terrible, and it was not quite as intuitive as other pots I've had over the years. Took ~10-15 minutes to figure out how to get it started. Should be simple, and intuitively obvious. That started the frusatration.

Next frustration was when I moved the pot back under the upper counter. ...Water all over the place! It seems that if you actually put 12 cups of water (as indicated by the guage on the side) and move the unit even slightly, the water gushes out the overflow in the back (conveniently not mentioned in the documentation). The same holds true for 10 cups of water in a 12 cup unit. This in my mind qualifies as a design flaw.

Next issue: 20 minutes to brew a pot of coffee! Completely unacceptable! (I repeated this 4 times just to be sure) In my mind this is a design flaw.

Next, impossible to lift the lid to fill the machine without pulling it completely out from under the upper cabinets. (See sloshing flaw above)

Finally, After brewing a pot, the condensation that inevitably gathers under the lid. pors out the back when you open the lid. This is because of the hinge design which places the entire lid BEHIND the machine when you open it. All the condensation conveniently flows off the lid interior to the counter behind the machine.

Given that this is a CUISINART, which is a name I have traditionally associated with quality products, I am terribly disappointed. a quick web search of what these cost just ticks me off.

I'll take my BUNN any day of the week. Except for the first filling (water tank) I get a 12-cup pot within 2 minutes, it stays warm, and by the time I am ready for a new pot the tank is already heated to the proper temp and I have a fresh pot in two minutes. To be fair, I should say that if I need to make TWO pots quickly, I still have to wait about 15-20 minutes for the tank to reheat, but that is only ONE wait vice two.

You had my interest reading your review until you mentioned the Bunn coffee maker. That is the world's worst coffee maker. It may be fast but makes the worst tasting coffee. Go read its reviews.

I like look and per cup dispensing

Strengths: Makes a good hot cup of coffee

Weakness: Daily cleaning

I liked this coffeemaker up until my recent problem with the water in the reserve not fully dispensing into the serving coffee bucket, I have only had the coffeemaker less than 6 months.

Best Coffee maker that ever died on me

Strengths: You don't spill the coffee ever! It stays clean and so does your counter

Weakness: It died after a year.

I am a real slob with coffee pots, when I pour from a carafe I know its going to spill so I don't even try to not make a mess. Why bother cleaning the counter since you are going to do it again in a half hour. This was a great machine but it lost power after about a year. I am thinking about buying another and sticking THIS one back in the box and returning it!

Same issue. Love this machine but, it died within a year. It's expensive so, debating whether I should buy a new one that may again only last a year.

Piece of junk

Strengths: looks chic

Weakness: too 'fussy'. too many parts to clean.

condensation drips and accumulates under the machine all over the countertop. exchanged this piece of junk for the dcc 1200 that i had for 6.5 yrs before it finally quit working.

Wasn't going to buy after I read some of the reviews

Strengths: great coffee, easy to fill, easy to clean, easy to use.

Weakness: the water filter thing seems to float up

we were going to buy this model, then I read all the bad comments people made and decided against it. Meanwhile, my wife bought it. Glad she did, best coffee maker we've had so far.

I love this maker and co. stands behind the product

Strengths: look, programs easily, no pot

Weakness: easy for hubby to forget to empty out old coffee.

I bought this about 2 years ago. I loved it. Husband on occasion, forgot to empty out old coffee before adding new stuff, it over fills and ends up all over counter! Well, over time the water corroded the electrical wires and it was temperamental, it finally died. I tried to take apart to see if I could fix. No, I couldn't. I was ready to put it out for the trash. Ended up finding the manual and called Cuisinart. I no longer had receipt, knew when I had bought it and never sent in the warranty card. A real person answered the phone, asked for the number on the bottom of the maker. He told me it was still under the 3 year warranty! They shipped me out a brand new one, it came 5 days later UPS. Now I love it even more!
