I bought automotive tools from tooltopia.com for my career and one of the tools ended up breaking. I contacted tooltopia.com and they refused to help me even though I bought the tool from them. I contacted the manufacturer of the tool and I had to pay to get the tool sent to them and I never received my tool back. I then contacted tooltopia.com and informed them about the situation and all I got was "sorry for the inconvenience" I didn't get a "I will help you out with this" or nothing. It seems like all they want is your money and if any problems arise then basically your out of luck and out of money!
customer service was lousy but the price was unbeatable on pro name tools that are lifetime warranty saved me money on the things I need too make money and shipping over 100 dollers is free thats any tool order very happy
The key thing to know about ToolTopia is its returns policy for defective items: In short, they will accept returns of non-defective items -- items they can resell -- but their policy is that defective items are covered only under the manufacturer's warranty. So, if you receive a defective tool from this company, as I did, you may end up having to deal with getting the equipment fixed under warranty through a manufacturer, which can take a long time and cost you shipping!
In all fairness, ToolTopia eventually (after two weeks or so) replaced the defective item the first time around -- a ProVision PV2300 boroscope. When the second unit also did not work, I received an e-mail notifying me that they would not issue a refund or accept the return, and that the issue would have to be dealt with as a warranty issue. Tthe company then pointed me to its difficult-to-find policy on defective items, which is that they are covered only under the manufacturer's warranty.
I saw the negative reviews and almost did not order from them. I am glad I did. I got what I wanted and got it very quickly, 2 days. It was also the least expensive of all on the net. I will consider them for other tools.
I never received the merchandise ordered. This is the worse company I have ever dealt with. Their customer service is non-existent! I ordered a gift for Christmas. Is was lost during shipment by UPS about half way to my home. The tracking information showed it arrived at a UPS distribution center far from my home and Tooltopia refused to send a replacement shipment even though it was quite evident it was not going to be delivered. They said UPS would have to conduct an investigation. When I explained this was a gift for Christmas and if we waited any longer it would not arrive in time for Christmas the customer service representative said she couldn't help that. I told her to cancel the order and she said she couldn't do that. When I asked to speak with her supervisor I was told they were on the phone and would call back. It is Jan 14 and I still haven't heard from that supervisor or anyone else from Tooltopia.
On December 11th, I placed an order. December 20th I still hadn't received the item. I went on UPS, and the status of the item just showed "Billing Info Received," and I called UPS directly and they said the item never was picked up to be scanned. My status on ToolTopia said "Pending shipment." I called, and I was given the run around. Then there was the almost 3 hour "lunch meeting" everyone was at, and you couldn't get anyone on the phone, unless you wanted to place a new order, of course. Eventually I got someone on the phone that said it had shipped, their own webpage was wrong, UPS was wrong, whatever, and they had to take 72 hours to investigate the matter before they would resend it, which means I was out of a Christmas present. The worst was the sales manager who couldn't have been more rude to me, after my 8 hours of patience, telling me there was nothing they could do. The problem is, no one in this company has a direct phone number! They only communicate over IM!
I ordered a Phoenix Injector V-12. Shipping was ultra fast (3 days!), and the price was marginally lower than anywhere else I could find. Would definitely buy from again.
I ordered a toolbox from ToolTopia, (REM19956), and they said I would receive it in 4-5 business days. When the deadline came around I checked the order status and it said pending shipment. I called them and asked about it, and I later received an email stating it was back ordered and it would arrive the following Tuesday. That day when I checked it still said pending shipment, so I called about it again. When I called they said it would be another month before they could ship it to me. I decided it was best if I canceled the order.
